Andy Warhol's Muhammed Ali

Andy Photographed Muhammed Ali in 1977, and this was part of his “Athletes” series. The other althletes included: O.J. Simpson, Dorothy Hamill, Pele, Jack Nicklaus,Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Rod Gilbert, Willie Shoemaker, Chris Evert and Tom Seaver.
Warhol was a practicing Byzantine (Eastern) Catholic. He regularly volunteered at homeless shelters in New York, particularly during the busier times of the year, and described himself as a religious person.
