The Annunciation was painted by Leonardo da Vinci and Andrea del Verrocchio in 1472–1475. Andrea was Leonardo’s teacher. Based on Gospel of Luke, Chapter 1, verses 26-39, it illustrates the angel Gabriel telling the virgin Mary that show would be the mother to the Son of God.
