Jimson Weed By Georgia O'Keeffe

Jimson Weed was painted by artist Georgia O’Keeffe in 1936 and is currently on display at the Indianapolis Museum of Art in Indiana. O’Keeffe was immensely fond of jimson weed, ignoring its seeds’ toxicity and allowing it to flourish around her patio. A little known fact is that the painting was originally titled “Miracle Flower”.

In 1936 Elizabeth Arden commissioned O’Keeffe to paint Jimson Weed for the exercise room of her New York spa. The unfurling blossoms were meant to encourage clients in their stretches.
